Teaching Artist Program

Gemeinhardt Musical Instruments, LLC announces the launch of a Teaching Artist Program as the first step in establishing its new Educational Outreach Department.  The company will be partnering with selected teacher-performers to promote high-quality flute instruction and performance.  Sponsored masterclasses, clinics, and performances given by the Gemeinhardt Teaching Artists are just a few of the activities currently in the works.

Leadership of the Teaching Artist Program will be provided by Rebecca Hovan, the most recent addition to the Gemeinhardt team.  Rebecca has enjoyed a multi-faceted career as a teacher and performer, most recently having returned from two seasons as the flutist for the National Tour of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.  She is a member of the National Flute Association, currently serving as Masterclass Performers Competition Coordinator.  She has also served the NFA as Chair of the Pedagogy Committee, during which time she participated in the preparation of several of the Committee's publications.  Rebecca is co-author of several titles in the award-winning Blocki Flute Method series and remains active composing and arranging music for a variety of instrumental combinations.  As a performer, she has appeared in recital as a soloist and with various ensembles throughout the United States, and she has presented numerous pedagogy workshops for the NFA, colleges and universities, professional conferences, and flute festivals.

Gemeinhardt’s continued pursuit of excellence and “thinking outside the box” has led to innovative designs and improvements in the production of their instruments.  The development of the Galway “Crusader” flute line, the Roy Seaman “Storm” piccolo, and the BLK series are just a few examples of Gemeinhardt’s ingenuity and commitment to providing the very best to the flute community at large. The Teaching Artist Program is a logical next step in continuing that commitment.
