Customer Reviews

Consistent and sturdy

I had this 4p piccolo and it was a pleasure working with it. The tone quality was impressive considering it was a plastic piccolo.Although I did used to have a silver plated gemeinhardt piccolo. This is my opinion, the silver plating gave the piccolo a sparkle and a bright sound, it was bold and projected like no other piccolo.but when i got the 4p, the material of the piccolo gave it a completely different personality. It was a warm dark or mellow sound. In fact, I made principal piccolo into my first youth orchestra with this piccolo. The mechanism was stable and didn't feel like the keys would go out of place or bend easily which you would see from a poor quality piccolo. But not the 4p piccolo at a flute/piccoloist It would be a nightmare dropping my instruments in the hard cold floor. Well, I must confess that I was in orchestra rehearsal, and we where playing a piece where I played flute and piccolo, in the middle if switching , the piccolo fell off my lap . I died inside and picked up the piccolo, and checked for any problems, .... None!!! A miracle or something. Congrats to gemeinhardt for making stable and reliable piccs. Today I don't play on a gemeinhardt anymore, but I sure miss the quality of my old 4p. Overall I would recommend this piccolo to the student or anyone who is dedicated and needs a piccolo but has a tight budget. I Will miss the 4p this year in orchestra.yay gemeinhardt!!!
